GPS Education is offering the Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (HCP) Online Part 1 offers a flexible training option for busy healthcare professionals. Students first complete online lessons through a series of self-paced modules. Students answer short multiple-choice questions within case-based scenarios, and receive feedback based on their answers to proceed through 10 critical checkpoints. To reinforce the CPR sequences taught in the course, students can access 21 optional review sections, including 17 videos from the BLS for Healthcare Providers classroom video. BLS HCP skills part 2 will be hands on with an experience CPR instructor.

Course Format

eLearning (online lessons blended with hands-on skills session)

Course requires 90 minutes to complete Part 1. Additional time required (30 minutes minimum) for skills practice and skills testing (Parts 2 and 3).

How it works:


Students complete three parts:

Part 1 – Use a course key to access and complete computer-based lessons.

Part 2 – GPS Education  is a approved an AHA Training Center to complete skills practice with a certified AHA BLS Instructor. Students must present Part 1 Certificate of Completion to complete Part 2.

Part 3 – Complete a skills test with an AHA BLS Instructor.

Course Content

• Student CD contains supplemental information on topics such as stroke, cardiac arrest, and special resuscitation situations.

Certification

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card valid for two years
In the classroom, students engage in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

Heartsaver® CPR AED

 

This classroom course teaches basic CPR skills such as performing a head tilt-chin lift and giving compressions and breaths.

The course provides training for anyone who wants to learn basic CPR and obtain a Heartsaver course completion card.

Course Content

• Key changes reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care

• Adult CPR and AED use

• Optional modules in child CPR and AED use and infant CPR, including child and infant choking

• Optional written test

Course Content

• Adult and child CPR and choking
• AED (Automated External Defibrillator) demonstration
• Making the Emergency Call

All four modules: 2.5 hours
All modules, excluding Infant CPR and choking: 1 hour, 15 minutes
