On-Line Course

Updated to reflect new science in the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care

  • A web-based, self-directed course that uses case-based scenarios and interactive lessons to teach students about both single-rescuer and team basic life support
  • Includes 5 (five) interactive exercises, scenarios and a written test
  • This course includes three (3) parts: 

Part 1 is the online portion. Key Codes will be emailed to student for access to the online program.

         Upon successful completion of the online portion, including the written test/exam, students receive a Part 1 certificate of completion.  The certificate must be brought to GPS Education class to be able to complete parts 2 and 3.

Part 2 is a hands-on skills session

Part 3 is a skills test which must be taken at GPS Education, an authorized American Heart Association BLS Instructor.

  • Key Codes will be emailed within 24 hours of orders placed between 7:30am-5:30pm EST Monday-Friday. If order is placed on Friday after 5pm EST, code will be emailed Monday morning

Classroom CPR Course

 

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

 

Course Content

 

 Key changes in basic life support, reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.

• Critical concepts of high-quality CPR

• The American Heart Association Chain of Survival

• 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant

• 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant

• Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques

• Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant

• Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant

• Relief of choking for adult, child and infant

• CPR with an advanced airway
