HeartCode® PALS Part 1
Through interactive cases and using eSimulation technology to “virtually treat" patients, healthcare providers learn to assess, formulate treatment and provide advanced care for pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest patients. The complete course requires completion of advanced hands-on skills practicing and testing


This course is for healthcare providers seeking an initial or renewal PALS Provider Course Completion Card, or those seeking continuing education.

HeartCode PALS Part 1

• Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardio-pulmonary arrest

• The systematic approach to pediatric assessment

• Effective respiratory management

• Validate skills for 1- and 2-person CPR and AED skills for infant and child

• Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion

• Intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration

• Effective resuscitation team dynamics


 

Course Completion Requirements


 

 

1. Successful completion of all cases in the HeartCode PALS Part 1 program

2. Achievement of 84% or greater on the online exam

3. Successful completion of the required CPR skills test administered by an AHA PALS Instructor

4. Successful demonstration of the management of respiratory emergencies

5. Successful demonstration of intraosseous access techniques

6. Successful completion of one (1) PALS Cardiac Core Case Testing Scenario and one (1) Respiratory or Shock Core Case Testing Scenario, functioning as the Team Leader in each

Students must present a valid HeartCode PALS Part 1 Certificate of Completion before completing steps 3 – 5.


Students who have successfully completed the HeartCode PALS Part 1 program and the instructor-led skills practice and testing session will receive an AHA PALS Provider Card. The card will be issued by the Training Center of the Instructor completing the skills testing, and the name of the Instructor completing the testing is to be on the card.

The issue date for the card will be the date the skills testing is successfully completed.
